Hippie Bark

I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus, but not from my cookery experiments. They say cooking and baking are all about trial and error and, if that’s so, then I’ve been getting a lot more errors than worked out trials lately.

When this happens, I try to make the best of it and I do have a few go-to recipes that always work out. One of those is my chocolate bark. It’s my mothers favorite of all my baked goods. I call it “Hippie Bark” because it’s made with dark chocolate and covered in all sorts of goodness, the healthy but delicious kind.

I’m not going to use my usual recipe format because this one is so simple that it just doesn’t call for it.

Firstly, I melt a full bar of dark chocolate in the microwave and spread it over parchment paper that’s laid on top of a cookie sheet. Then I top it with the following:

chia seeds

pumpkin seeds

sunflower seeds

chopped nuts

dried cranberries and raisins

 

You can really top this bark with anything you like. I’ve got peanut butter down on my list of things to try next time. Swirled amongst the chocolate – yum!

Once you’ve got it topped, put it in the fridge for at least an hour before cracking or cutting it into pieces. Then you can either put it in cute little jars as gifts, or just any container you wish. I like to keep it in the fridge so it doesn’t melt and in an easy-access container for easy munching!
